Hawks Make Seven Changes For Borough Showdown

The Box Hill Hawks have made a raft of changes to the side beaten last weekend on the Gold Coast, re-gaining a 2018 premiership player and handing a youngster his first taste of senior state league footy.

Hawthorn flyer Changkuoth Jiath has been named to play across half-back and, in donning the brown and gold of Box Hill, will make his first in-season appearance for the Mustangs since the 2019 Elimination Final.

In exciting news, Frankston YCW product Darcy Murr will make his debut for the Hawks. Having been named as a travelling emergency last weekend and following several strong weeks in training, the youngster will take his place as the Hawks’ 23rd man.

Joining them among the ins are first-year AFL-listed teammates Jack O’Sullivan, who returns to the fray following a groin complaint, Clay Tucker and Cam Mackenzie – the latter of whom has been named in Hawthorn’s extended squad alongside Max Ramsden and fellow in Lachie Bramble.

As announced on Twitter, Finn Maginness has been added to Hawthorn’s squad for Sunday’s clash with Carlton, replacing Tyler Brockman. This will mean least one of Box Hill’s emergencies will required to step into Saturday’s game day 23.

Among the listed outs are the elevated trio of Josh Ward, Fergus Greene and Chad Wingard, while Fionn O’Hara and Hugh Beasley have been ruled out due to knocks sustained against The Suns.

Box Hill’s final 23 will be confirmed prior to Saturday’s first bounce, which is scheduled for 2:05pm.

The game is the second of two massive match-ups at City Oval on Saturday, with our VFL outfit to tackle Port Melbourne following  our VFLW side’s finals qualifier against the Southern Saints. The formula is simple: win and we’re in. Lose and we’ll have to play the waiting game.
