Box Hill Hawks in Gippsland

In 2023 we headed to Gippsland for our preseason training camp and community clinic at Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve. This provided the opportunity for local coaches to gain an insight into that it takes to coach at the Victorian state level as well as for local players to get some tips from our playing group. We again travelled to the Gippsland region in April to play a double header against the Casey Demons at the Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve in what was a great day of football in Gippsland.
In 2024 we will again be travelling to Gippsland for our preseason training camp.

Hawks Holiday Program

In 2022, we launched our inaugural Hawks Holiday Program at Box Hill City Oval in the July school holidays. With 400 participants over the two weeks, our Hawks Holiday Program offers a unique football experience in a high performance environment. The program is designed to encourage participation and create an introduction into the AFL no matter the skill level. Hawks Holidays will be run by Hawks players and Coaches and will include fun football activities and giveaways at each session! In 2024 we will be running our Holiday Program in April, July and September school holidays.

Footy 4 Fun

Footy 4 Fun is a range of participation offerings, delivered by AFL Victoria, with the aim to support the growth and transition of participants into their Summer and Winter leagues. Footy 4 Fun is designed for those junior footballers, both boys and girls, who have graduated from the NAB AFL Auskick Program and just want to continue to play footy over summer. Footy 4 Fun is a fun and exciting modified version of the game and a great way you bring new friends to the game.

Multicultural Footy 4 Fun

In 2022, Box Hill Hawks home ground, Box Hill City Oval became the centre of a new Multicultural Footy 4 Fun program for those in the City of Whitehorse and City of Maroondah region. Footy 4 Fun Multicultural is an offering for kids aged 7-12 years, run by AFL Victoria from diverse backgrounds that focuses on providing a safe and inclusive introduction to football. While the kids are learning all about the basic skills of the game, the parent will be provided an opportunity to understand the game of Australia Rules Football.

Adults Introduction to Football

Adults introduction to football education session gives parents an insight into the History of the AFL, teach them the basic skills of the game, where their children can play football, player pathways, Hawthorn Next Generation Academy, about Hawthorn Football Club, Box Hill Hawks Football Club and the alignment between the two clubs.

Footy 4 Fun Junior Girls

Footy 4 Fun Junior Girls is all about giving girls the opportunity to experience football in a fun and safe environment through fun activities and modified game. In 2022, we successfully hosted a three week program at Bunjil Bagora, with Hawthorn VFLW player appearances and a session in August at Box Hill City Oval, with Hawthorn AFLW player appearances. We continue to work with AFL Victoria to present these programs.

Auskick

Our football club strives on promoting player pathways and the next generation’s ability to follow our program in order to achieve great success. Throughout our 2023 VFL campaign, we hosted over 200 participants from local Auskick Centres at Box Hill City Oval during half time, providing a memorable experience for junior athletes involved and crowd entertainment. In 2024 we aim to do the same and provide many more aspiring AFL and AFLW players the opportunity to witness high-level football and play in front of the home crowd.
