Round 21 Selection

Box Hill bring the curtain down on the home and away season with an encounter of extra significance at Box Hill City Oval this Saturday.

The Hawks enter the clash knowing they can drop no lower than sixth on the competition ladder, but a win and two favourable results would deliver fourth place and the double chance.

As for the Cats, they’re similarly in need of a win and two favourable results, and should all three come their way they’d capture top spot and a home Qualifying Final.

The permutations are varied and many, setting up an intriguing final lunge at the finish line.

In team news Box Hill welcome back skipper Andrew Moore, who missed the loss at Werribee and win against Casey through suspension. Moore is a crucial in given the injury enforced absence of Mitch O’Donnell, who acted as captain in Moore’s absence, and functions as a like-for-like bull in the middle of the park.

In the mix to join him are the experience Brendan Whitecross and returning big men Marc Pittonet and Jonathon Ceglar, whilst Irishman Conor Glass might provide run and carry off the half-back flank.

VFL-listed talent Vincent Adduci, Nelson Lane and Chris Jones are also named in the extended squad and would each be making a return form injury should they take the field on Saturday.

Adduci has endured a frustrating campaign and only last weekend returned from a wrist injured that had kept him sidelined since the round seven win over Northern Blues.

Whilst Nelson Lane could be in line for his second match of the season, having been a late inclusion for the round 13 loss at Richmond.

Key position tall Chris Jones was managed last week having felt his hamstring after training on Thursday and with the elevation of David Mirra looks another like-for-like swap.

The match forms part of a Hawks-Cats double header, with the two VFLW outfits doing battle at 11:30am. Fans are encouraged to get down to City Oval and enjoy a terrific day of footy between two great rivals.
