28 days removed from a last competitive hit-out, Box Hill’s 2021 campaign resumes this Saturday afternoon at Olympic Park.
With the senior side not in action until Sunday Sam Mitchell and his match committee have named an extended 31-man squad for the clash against the Magpies, headlined by the potential inclusion of nine AFL-listed Hawks.
Harry Morrison and Jacob Koschitzke would make their first appearances for Box Hill since 2019 were they to feature, while Tim O’Brien and Jon Ceglar would be welcome additions as key position utilities.
Finn Maginness and Damon Greaves have been solid performers at the development level throughout 2021 and enjoyed tastes of senior football as a reward. Both are named as things stand, joining Jai Newcombe and Olly Hanrahan in a young and exciting group that would be keen to press claims for senior recalls.
Mason De Wit returns to the squad having been managed for our last start win against Gold Coast. De Wit is another who has put together a strong season, featuring in eight of the Hawks’ nine home and away matches to date, as well as the majority of our seven pre-season engagements.
Promisingly, off-season recruit Jordan Cunico is in the mix to feature for the first time since round one. Dashing and versatile, the former Cat limped off 30 seconds into his City Oval debut and has been patiently working his way back to full fitness ever since.
