Round 10 Ins & Outs

The Box Hill Hawks return to action this Sunday, bolstered by a strong list of potential ins to aid the pursuit of a fifth win on the 2021 VFL season.

28 days removed from a last start victory over the Blues, the brown and gold of Box Hill will square off against the red and black of Essendon at Windy Hill, with Sam Mitchell’s visiting party looking to consolidate a positive run of pre-lockdown form.

Mitchell’s extended squad boasts 18 AFL-listed players, headlined by the possible return to football of the 2020 number six draft pick Denver Grainger-Barrass and a Box Hill debut for mid-season draft pick Jackson Callow.

Having put together a solid block of football in the Club’s pre-season, Grainger-Barrass hasn’t featured at any level since sustaining a knee injury in Box Hill’s hit out against Richmond on March 28.

Meanwhile, Callow is in line to debut just two-and-a-half weeks removed from joining the Hawks from Norwood in the SANFL. The 195cm key forward had trained with Hawthorn in pre-season, before going on to impress during his time in South Australia with the Redlegs.

Further to the good news stories of Grainger-Barrass and Callow, there could be an on-field reunion for the Phillips brothers, with Tom named alongside Ed for the first time since they made their ways to Hawthorn and Box Hill respectively.

James Blanck has been named on our 13-man bench for what would be his fourth game of the season, a first since round four’s loss to Werribee, and is joined in the squad by Mackenzie Doreian and Jesse Cucinotta, who would be making their first appearances of 2021.

Our final twenty-two will be announced at 10:35am on Sunday, half-an-hour prior to the first bounce.

Fans can follow all the action via our official Club social media pages, while the match will be available to stream via Kayo.
