Box Hill Hawks Live on Channel 7
AFL Victoria and Channel 7 have released the next block of televised games. These are exciting times ahead for both the league, Channel 7 and the Club.
This year will be the first year Channel 7 have had the rights to televise the Peter Jackson VFL, the new partnership looking to boost the profile of the VFL competition.
Channel 7 will broadcast the ‘match of the round’ live every week, then broadcasting the finals series and the grand-final.
Box Hill Hawks first home game to be televised will be Round 8 against Port Melbourne on Saturday, June 6 at 12.12pm, with coverage starting at midday.
The exciting new partnership with Channel 7 and the VFL has brought an increased amount of professionalism to the league.
“With the inclusion of Channel 7 televising the VFL this year it adds a great sense of excitement to the VFL, the clubs and supporters,” Hawks General Manager, Chris Nanni said.
“The exposure through Channel 7 is outstanding for VFL Clubs, Sponsors, Coaches and Players alike. All clubs are very excited to have the opportunity to host home televised games and we are certainly looking forward to our Round 8 clash against Port Melbourne.”
Commentating each of the games will be Jason Bennett, Nigel Carmody, Campbell Brown and Brad Sewell. The huge buzz around Channel 7 along with these names, have already increased viewing of the 2015 VFL games by over 20,000 each week.
The broadcasts on the new station have averaged 53,000 viewers a week. The Round 1 clash with Footscray at VU Whitten oval attracted 52,000 viewers, with a peak audience in Melbourne of 88,000 as the match went down to the wire in the final quarter.
Compare this to last year’s TV Broadcasts which averaged mid 30,000 viewers per week, with the 2014 Round 1 clash between Williamstown and Box Hill rating 22,000 viewers.
These numbers show an extremely positive and bright future for everyone involved in and surrounding the VFL.
The Box Hill Hawks were also informed that the Round 11 Game against Collingwood at Victoria Park on Saturday, June 27 at 12.12pm, will be televised live on Channel 7.
