Dev: Hawks Soar Over Casey Scorpions
Box Hill Hawks development side remain undefeated after a 67-point win over the Casey Scorpions on Sunday at Box Hill City Oval.
After such an incredible season so far, their plan going into the day was to stick to what they know and play exactly as they have been playing.
“The plan was to play the Box Hill way. Play the game we have played all year by moving the ball fast, tackling well and applying pressure to the ball carrier consistently throughout the day,” said Billy Murphy.
It took Box Hill a while to get into their usual rhythm, with a slow and sloppy first quarter. Murphy put this down to the group not playing to the game plan early.
“We came into the huddle at quarter time and addressed these issues and refocused ourselves. We were able to then go back out onto the field and turn the game around.”
The change in attitude from the Hawks proved effective, as a new side came out in the second half.
Box Hill soared above Casey with goal after goal, increasing their lead to 51 points at three quarter time.
By the final siren Box Hill had put another four goals on the scoreboard, ending the game with 101-points, resulting in a 67-point win over the Casey Scorpions.
“It felt good to get back to playing the football we wanted to in the second half, we knew Casey were going to be a tough opponent and they proved that for most of the day.”
Box Hill will head to Frankston Oval this Sunday to take on Frankston from 11am.
