Last Time We Met…

This weekend’s Grand Final rematch against the Williamstown Seagulls is going to be a good challenge for the Box Hill Hawks with the match set to be played at Burbank Oval.

Finishing 2015 with an agonising 54-point loss at Etihad Stadium, Sunday’s game is sure to be a hotly contested & extremely physical one between last year’s Grand Finalists.

Going into last year’s Grand Final, Box Hill had finished Minor Premiers & entered the game as favourites. With already a dominant Round 10 win over Williamstown under their belts, Box Hill knew that if they applied the same pressure as they had in that 62-point win, they could get over the line.

However, the game did not start as Box Hill had planned, with Williamstown flying out of the blocks & posting a 20-point lead at quarter time- the match resulting in Williamstown being named the 2015 VFL Premiers.

Williamstown came with more intent & willingness to work both ways all day. They dominated the midfield battle both on the inside & with their spread from the contest giving first use to their forwards.

This is an area that undoubtedly will determine the result of the game again this weekend. With the likes of Jolley, Wheeler & the best on ground from the Grand Final, Gibbons, their leading possession getters last weekend, our midfielders will need to be on their toes if we are to come away from Williamstown with the 4 points.
