Horner & Cucinotta Back On Board

The Box Hill Hawks are pleased to announce the first re-signings from this season’s premiership playing group, in Stuart Horner and Jesse Cucinotta.

Horner has continued to develop at City Oval – following his graduation from Eastern Ranges ranks – notching 15 games for the premiership-winning development side in his first year at the club, in 2016.

Fast forward to season gone by, Horner plied his trade at Norwood and when called upon at senior level, adjusted seamlessly to provide efficient disposal and a cool head under pressure across the backline.

Conversely, Cucinotta’s first year at the club was unfortunately marred by injury. However, the skilful Shepparton product persisted – and found consistent form for local community club, Heidelberg.

Both will be looking to further their senior opportunities come the 2019 VFL season.

Recruiting & List Manager, Chris Monaghan, was thrilled to see the returning players recommit to the club, and had no doubt in their ability to step up to the plate when the opportunity would undoubtedly call.

“We’re all very confident that when these players get further opportunities in 2019, they will suitably fill roles at the very strong VFL level.”

And while age is also on their side, he equally didn’t dismiss their ability to influence City Oval’s new recruits.

“We have continually seen this young group provide leadership to new players; they set high standards both on and off the field.”

Horner and Cucinotta join a slate of new recruits for the 2019 VFL season; to be joined by the further announcement of exciting re-signings still to come.
