VFLW coaches votes, R7: Young gun bursts onto the scene

Eastern Ranges young gun Laura Stone has made an immediate impact in her VFLW debut, polling eight votes in the VFLW Coaches MVP Award in Box Hill’s 27-point win over Darebin.

The 17-year-old looked right at home in Hawks colours with 18 disposals, six tackles and three clearances.

Fellow young gun Matilda Van Berkel also polled eight votes from the coaches thanks to her 21 disposals and five tackles in defence.

Star forward Maddie Boyd was next best with five votes after kicking a goal to go with recording 17 disposals, 16 hit-outs and six marks.

With that, the 30-year-old now sits fourth in the VFLW Coaches MVP Award leaderboard, with co-vice-captain Jordan Mifsud sitting in ninth place.

Captain Nicole Garner polled four votes for her 17 disposals and six marks, highlighting her reliability on the wing.

Midfielder Annie Muir rounded out the votes with one after totalling 10 disposals and three tackles.
