Round 19 Team: Snake’s In!

The Box Hill Hawks have made six changes to it’s 23 ahead of Saturday’s visit of Sandringham, headlined by the return of a two-time reigning Paul Bolton Trophy winner and a first appearance in 2023 for the man called “Snake.”

While we always hope to see him running around at senior level, Fergus Greene is a welcome addition to Box Hill’s attacking half and he’ll be joined in the forward 50 by crafty small Jake Arundell – who has been named to play his first game at VFL level for the year.

Elsewhere developing talls Denver Grainger-Barras and Max Ramsden return to fray, while big-bodied midfielder Ned Long – who has enjoyed a superb season for Box Hill – is another of the six inclusions to the side which narrowly defeated Richmond last Saturday.

The experienced Jack Scrimshaw is the final listed in and shapes as the perfect foil off half-back for the similarly skilful Damian Mascitti.

Among the outs are ruckman Lloyd Meek, running machine Lachy Bramble, exciting midfielder Cam Mackenzie, former Box Hill Backman James Blanck and youngster Darcy Murr.

The Hawks’ second mid-season draft pick, Brandon Ryan, has sensationally been named to make his AFL debut.

Box Hill’s final 23 will be confirmed just prior to Saturday’s bounce, scheduled for 2:05pm.
