Selection: Hawks Name Debutant For Zebs Showdown

Box Hill will welcome Sandringham to City Oval with four changes to the team which got the better of North Melbourne last weekend – including a debutant.

Into the 23 for Sunday’s hit-out come the experienced duo of Sam Frost and Jack Scrimshaw, young ruckman Jamie Uhr-Henry and first-gamer Jack Baldwin.

A product of the Eastern Ranges and Mitcham, Baldwin was in the mix for a debut just a week ago before a corky ruled him out; a strong week on the track has seen him given the green light by the Club’s strength and conditioning team and the nod from match committee.

Out of the side go the injured pair of Ned Reeves and Noah Mraz, who each picked up knocks in the win over the Kangaroos, while Matt Hill has been managed and Nathan Philactides is the unlucky man to miss out on balance.

Boasting a 14-9 split of AFL to VFL listed players, it’s a strong team on paper.

Sam Frost, Jai Serong and James Blanck could all hold down key posts in defence, while Mitch Lewis and Calsher Dear will continue in their bids for senior re-calls in the forward 50.

Another looking to build towards a promotion to the ones is Jack Scrimshaw, who has recovered from the minor hamstring complaint which saw him withdrawn at quarter time of the Hawks’ win over Coburg three weeks ago.

With skipper Cal Porter sidelined by a muscle strain, Vice-Captain Stu Horner will again take the reins.

With the Hawks and Saints doing battle the night before, fans are encouraged to get down to Box Hill City Oval to take in a massive double header. Our VFLW team kick things off at 11:35am, before the VFL side take the field from 2:05pm.

Any changes to the selected 23 will be communicated prior to Sunday’s first bounce.
