Important pair commit to 2020
The Box Hill Hawks are pleased to announce two further re-signings, with Liam Mackie and Stuart Horner confirming they will return to City Oval in 2020.
Formerly senior listed at Collingwood, Mackie has since spent the last two years with the Hawks.
Over this period, the 21-year-old has played 12 games for the brown and gold.
GM – VFL and VFLW Football Daniel Napoli said Mackie was another important signing ahead of next season.
“Liam was someone we were very keen to retain heading into next year,” Napoli said.
“He has had experience in an AFL environment so his input and leadership is really valued around the club.
“We’re really excited that he will be pulling on a brown and gold jumper again in 2020.”
Stuart Horner has committed to a fifth season in the brown and gold.
Horner has played 15 senior games for the Hawks in the past two years whilst also spending time in the Development League in 2016 & 2017.
Napoli said Horner’s reputation among the group continues to evolve.
“Stuart has proven an extremely valuable defender in our line-up,” Napoli said.
“He is a stingy defender that hates getting beaten.
“We’re very pleased to be able to retain his services ahead of next season.”
