VFL Round 10 Team: Two To Debut

The Box Hill Hawks have made six changes ahead of Sunday’s trip to Windy Hill, re-calling a trio of developing VFL-listed prospects, handing a VFL debut to the newest AFL-listed Hawk, providing a Box Hill debut to the Club’s top pick in the 2023 National Draft, while welcoming back an integral key position defender.

Jasper Scaife has been named to play his first game in the brown and gold since crossing the Nullarbor mid-week. The former West Perth spearhead will be straight into the thick of the action in his new colours, and will be joined on debut by Nick Watson. ‘The Wizard’ will feature for the first time at state league level since arriving at Waverley in last year’s draft.

Joining that debuting duo are the VFL-listed trio of Nathan Philactides, Andrew Mathieson and Josh Tovey. Philactides and Mathieson will play their fifth games of the season, while Tovey has been named for the fourth time in 2024. 

Rounding out the ins is Ethan Phillips, who was withdrawn from the round nine loss to Brisbane as a holdover for the senior side. His inclusion is a timely one given injury that ruled fellow key back Jai Serong out for at least this week. 

Serong is joined on the injury list by ruckman Clay Tucker, while fellow big man Ned Reeves has been re-called into the Hawks senior line-up for Saturday’s clash against Adelaide. 

Elsewhere Jye Peacock, Andreas Stefanakis and Ben De Bolfo have all been omitted.

Any changes to the selected 23 will be communicated prior to Sunday’s first bounce, which is scheduled for 1:05pm.
