Round Seven Selection

The Box Hill Hawks will be out to avenge a last-start loss this Saturday when they host the Northern Blues at City Oval.

A strong AFL-listed contingent makes up the Box Hill squad, with big name ins Paul Puopolo, Daniel Howe, Tim O’Brien, Will Langford and Brendon Whitecross joined by returning first-year player James Worpel.

Vince Adduci, Nelson Lane and Billy Murphy have all won recalls into Chris Newman’s squad, and each represent some pace around the ball and a goal threat at the feet of the talls.

Box Hill will be without leading goal kicker Mitch Lewis, whose efforts thus far have seen him win promotion to the Hawthorn side to face Brisbane on Sunday.

The Hawks were handed their first defeat of the campaign last week at Casey Fields, a result that saw the Brown and Gold relinquish top spot on the VFL ladder and slip to third, becoming one of five clubs on four-and-one.

The Northern Blues ran aground at Williamstown in their round six fixture, beaten on a typically cold and windy day down by the bay to record their fourth loss from five starts and leave them fourteenth on the competition ladder.

The match marks the first home double header of 2018, with the Hawthorn Women to host Carlton’s VFLW outfit in a curtain raiser. With the senior AFL side interstate it’s a perfect opportunity to unite the Hawks family and get your weekend footy fix.
