Ed Sill pens letter regarding the VFL’s COVID-19 response

Box Hill President Ed Sill has penned the following letter to members and supporters…

Dear members and supporters,

As a loyal supporter of the Box Hill Football Club, I would like to update you on the current coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.

As a football club, the health and wellbeing of our players, staff and fans is our top priority.

With that in mind, we wish to advise that the upcoming VFL season has been suspended until at least May 31st – at which point the situation will be reassessed.

We fully accept the advice handed down by AFL Victoria and governing health authorities, however it doesn’t mean that we aren’t incredibly disappointed that we won’t be able to kick off the 2020 season as planned.

Football is the lifeblood of our community and an important way to make us all feel connected.

While it is now clear the 2020 season will be at least partially compromised, one thing is for sure; our football family will remain as tight as ever while we navigate these unchartered waters.

When we return, we know the support of our fans and the commitment of our players and staff will bring us back stronger than ever.

This is a situation that continues to evolve rapidly. If any more information emerges regarding our VFL program, we will make sure our members and supporters are communicated to as soon as possible.

Stay safe and look after each other.

Go Hawks,

Ed Sill

President of Box Hill Football Club
