Community Clubs September 21

Four of our Community Clubs boys played off in the big dance this past weekend, with one getting the W and claiming the premiership. While one other won a Preliminary Final for a chance at the same fate this coming weekend.

Jack Hume tasted premiership success with Leongatha in the Gippsland League on Saturday afternoon. He and the Parrots took on Sale, replicating the winning result from their last meeting to secure the glory of Premiers in the Seniors.

The Parrots narrowly led by three (21-18) and two points (35-33) respectively at quarter and half times, before extending their lead to 12 points at three-quarter time to run out winners at the final siren by 22 points – 10.10 (70) to 6.12 (48). To top it all off, Hume also managed a goal in the Grand Final victory.

On the other hand, unfortunately the Rowville boys finished with the alternate result. The trio of Mitchell Sruk, Jake Arundell and Lachlan Wynd with the Rowville Hawks went down to Noble Park in the Eastern Football Netball League Premier Division Seniors Grand Final, 9.16 (70) to 2.11 (23).

Based off the score line, the Hawks appeared to be unable to get themselves into their usual gear. They trailed by 12 at the first break, 33 at the half and 34 at three-quarter time before the loss was sealed by 47 points.

Despite the loss, Sruk was impressive for his side, being named best on ground for the Hawks.

In the Ovens and Murray League, Will Sexton and Yarrawonga sealed a finals berth with a 31-point victory over Wangaratta Rovers – 14.7 (91) to 8.12 (60).

Sexton and Yarrawonga will face off with Wangaratta for the premiership this Sunday afternoon, 2.30pm at Lavington Sports Ground.

Wishing Secco and the team the best of luck!
