COLLO OFF TO FREO

Box Hill Hawks Football Club is delighted to congratulate key defender Sam Collins on being drafted to Fremantle Dockers with pick 55 in the 2015 National Draft. He joins the long list of 34 other Box Hill players to be drafted to AFL clubs, the highest of any VFL club.

Sam joined Box Hill in 2013, playing 4 Senior and 12 Development team games that year. This season he played 19 games in the Seniors and 1 in the Development team. He averaged 13 disposals per game for the season and 5 marks, with a season high 12 against Werribee in the wet here at City Oval. He accumulated 54 defensive rebounds, laid 44 tackles and effected 101 spoils – a very impressive set of statistics.

“Everyone here at Box Hill is thrilled for Sam” said General Manager, Chris Nanni. “He is a hard working young footballer who sets high standards for himself, always striving for improvement. He is a popular member of the club’s leadership group and has contributed significantly to the development of many of the younger players who have come into the club. His sense of humour and his love for playing a prank have contributed significantly to the spirit that exists within the club. Being awarded the A. P. Dickensen Trophy for Best Clubman at this year’s awards night demonstrates the high regard in which he is held.”

All at the club wish Sam all the best for 2016, and look forward to seeing him debut for the purple and green.
