Clint Proctor Confirmed As Senior Coach

Box Hill is thrilled to announce Clint Proctor has been appointed as the club’s senior coach ahead of the 2022 season.

Working as an assistant coach under Sam Mitchell with Box Hill this year, Proctor pounced on the opportunity to take his coaching career to the next level once the position was vacated.

With over ten years’ experience coaching across VFL, TSL and NAB League levels, Proctor has built a strong reputation in his time in the brown and gold with his emphasis on player development and building culture.

Proctor’s appointment continues to strengthen the bond between Hawthorn and Box Hill, with Hawthorn Development Coach Andy Otten confirmed as the senior assistant for the VFL club while Head of Development Andy Collins will be Proctor’s coaching mentor.

Hawthorn GM – VFL & VFLW Daniel Napoli said the club was rapt to promote a man of Proctor’s character into the Box Hill head coaching role.

“Clint is an amazing cultural fit and has proven this over the course of 2021, building strong relationships with Box Hill players and staff as well as doing some strong work developing Hawthorn-listed players,” Napoli said.

“He’s a level 3 accredited coach who sees the game really well and has had experience coaching his own side at state league level.

“He also spent some time at Williamstown as an assistant coach as well as at the Northern Blues before crossing to Box Hill under Sam this year.”

Hawthorn Senior Coach Sam Mitchell acknowledged the appointment was another important stepping stone in the Hawks’ ‘one club’ approach.

“Having worked alongside Clint this year, I was really impressed with his tactical nous and his unrelenting desire to develop his players,” Mitchell said.

“He’s had some really strong experiences throughout his coaching career to date, so we felt he was very much ready to take on this next challenge.

“With Hawthorn drafting two Box Hill-listed players this year, we saw the benefit of the relationship and I have full faith in Clint’s ability to make the Hawthorn-Box Hill connection even greater.”

The remainder of the Box Hill coaching structure will be finalised in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to hawthornfc.com.au for further updates.
