Blockbuster Box Hill VFLW fixture released

Box Hill’s VFLW team is set for 14 rounds of action this season, with the AFL today releasing the full 2023 rebel VFLW fixture.

As previously announced, the Hawks will commence their campaign against traditional rivals Essendon on Sunday 26 March at the NEC Hangar.

Hawks fans won’t have to wait long to see Box Hill on home soil, with the Hawks set to host the Western Bulldogs at Box Hill City Oval in Round 2.

After an away game against the Southern Saints in Round 3 and home game against Collingwood in Round 4, Box Hill will play under Friday night lights against Port Melbourne at ETU Stadium in Round 5.

Round 6 will see history made, as the Box Hill Hawks VFL and VFLW teams travel to Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve for a bumper double-header, celebrating the club’s partnership with the Bass Coast Shire Council. A further three double-headers will be played at Box Hill City Oval in Rounds 4, 9 and 11, presenting an exciting prospect for Hawks fans.

Box Hill Hawks General Manager Pat Clancey said the fixture was a win for the Hawks community.

“Today is another exciting day on the Box Hill calendar with a blockbuster fixture released by the AFL,” Clancey said.

“Our season begins against the old foe Essendon and includes a Friday night battle with Port Melbourne as well as a trip down the highway to face Geelong.

“We’re looking forward to seeing Box Hill City Oval packed with fans in Round 4 for the double-header against the Pies, with further double-headers in Rounds 9 and 11. Equally, we know the Bass Coast Shire community will turn up to Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve in droves as both teams battle with the Casey Demons on April 30.

“If you haven’t already, we encourage all Hawks fans to jump on board and become a Box Hill member, as we embark on one of our biggest seasons yet.”
