An unfortunately growing injury list, combined with a week off in the Victorian Amateur Football Association, meant a reduced number of Box Hill talent donned their community club guernsey over the weekend gone by. However, those who did ensured they were out to impress.

It was Nick Evans, on return from a jaw injury, who took bragging rights over Box Hill team mate Mackenzie Doreian, when South Croydon faced off against Blackburn; with Evans slotting a major as his side were three goals the better at final siren.

Tom Maloney’s goal and a solid performance from Stuart Horner wasn’t enough for Norwood, as they went down to Balwyn by 13 points; while Reece Groves and Tristan Davies were also on the wrong end of a losing margin when Knox accounted for an injury-depleted East Ringwood by a comfortable 32 points.

Conversely, Michael Knoll and the Vermont reserves side took victory over a goalless Rowville, with the big-man named amongst the best; while Ryan McGannon and his Mt. Eliza team mates were victors over Rosebud by a substantial 85 points.

Greensborough up against Heidelberg saw another pair of Box Hill team mates turn opponents, as Billy Murphy’s Greensborough side went home with the four points, defeating Jesse Cucinotta’s Heidelberg by a slender three points. Murphy continued his outstanding form at local level with another four goals, enough to land him amongst the best once more.
