VFLW Match Report: Hawks Dominant Win Seals Finals Spot

The Box Hill Hawks VFLW side have secured not only a spot in the finals, but also a home final, after a dominant win over Carlton at Ikon Park on Friday night.

After the Blues kicked the opening goal to lead early in the first quarter, Box Hill took control and never looked back, sealing a strong win with the final scores being 1.1 (7) to 4.12 (36) at Ikon Park on Friday night.

Box Hill proved they belonged in the finals, putting Carlton to the sword in the second half with four unanswered goals. After the scores were tied at half-time, the Hawks kept the Blues goalless for the final three quarters. Despite inaccuracy in front of goal,  kicking 0.6 up until the main break . Box Hill dominated around the ground to run out convincing winners.

Rosie Dillon was outstanding once again, leading the Hawks with 27 disposals. Tess Cattle continued her strong form ahead of finals with 22 touches, while defender Matilda Van Berkel capped off her impressive 21-disposal game by slotting a massive goal to seal the win.

The win locks in third place on the ladder for the Hawks, setting up a home elimination final against the Bombers this Saturday at 11:35am at Box Hill City Oval. With a chance to avenge their recent loss, the Hawks will be looking to keep their season alive , so we want to see all Hawks fans down loud and proud, to get behind the girls.
