Hawks Ready For Roos

Box Hill’s round two team has been named and it includes two debutants and a welcome return!

The inclusion of key defensive pillars Sam Frost and Sam Durdin will bolster the one-and-zero Hawks’ rearguard, while the returning Bodie Ryan will provide bounce out of and drive off half-back.

Luke Breust won himself a call-up to the Hawks senior set-up on the back of a vital three-goal cameo in the win over the Blues last Friday night, while Jack Sammartino and Daniel Wood are unlucky to lose their spots on account of team balance.

Kye Declase, a star of the VFL for so long, has been named to play his 100th match at the level, joining fellow milestone men Durdin and Frost – who are set for their Box Hill Hawks debuts after terrific careers elsewhere.

Zane Littlejohn and his match committee have retained Lane Ward as 23rd man after a great showing in just his second VFL match last weekend, while the one-two midfield punch of Henry Hustwaite and Trent Bianco, which was so damaging against Carlton, will again get to work at the feet of big-man Ned Reeves.

Having been named to the VFL State Team Squad, Declase, Durdin, Ethan Stanley and Cal Porter will all use Saturday’s clash as a final opportunity to press their case for inclusion in the 23-man squad for the battle with the SANFL in a fortnight’s time.

Our final team will be confirmed and communicated prior to Saturday’s first bounce.
