25 Year Celebration of the Box Hill Hawks
The Box Hill Hawks proudly celebrated a significant milestone on the evening of Friday June 21, marking 25 years of the alignment between Box Hill and Hawthorn Football Clubs. The commemorative evening, held at Rivers Edge Events, brought together those that have played a significant role with the alignment over the past 25 years.
During the alignment, the clubs have combined for 4 AFL premierships, 1 VFLW premiership, 3 VFL senior premierships and 5 VFL development league premierships. A haul unmatched throughout the AFL competition.
It has been an incredible journey and one the founders of the alignment, John Ure and Ian Dicker, accurately predicted as they put together an agreement that has stood the test of time.
The evening boasted hearing from Guest Speakers in VFL Senior Coach, Zane Littlejohn and VFL Captain, Callum Porter on the 2024 Season thus far. As well as a Guest Speaker Panel including current Box Hill VFLW Captain & 2018 Premiership Player, Tamara Luke, two-time Box Hill VFL Premiership Player, David Mirra, VFL Veteran, Damian Mascitti and Box Hill to Hawthorn Graduate, Fergus Greene.
Testimonial videos played throughout the evening featuring the likes of Sam Mitchell, Jai Newcombe, Allan McDonald, Graeme ‘The Colonel’ Walsh and many more, highlighted the strength in unity between Box Hill and Hawthorn Football Club’s.
A comedy set by passionate Hawks fan, TV star and skilled comedian, Dilruk Jayasinha, had the room filled with laughter.
The 25 Year Celebration of the Box Hill Hawks was enjoyed by all, with many stories shared, it was a true celebration of club history and the future of Box Hill and Hawthorn Club’s alignment.
