Community Clubs April 9

Last weekend was a huge week of footy, as Round 1 continues to kick off for many of our VFL and VFLW players. With a few wins and losses in the mix, it didn’t stop our Hawks from making an appearance in the list of best players and some even with a goal or two.

VFLW: In the Mornington Peninsular Football Netball League, the Warragul Industries FNC with Alisha Molesworth, Elise Molesworth and Matilda Van Berkel defeated Seaford FNC by 51 points in Round 1 on Saturday, 9.12 (66) to 2.3 (15). Amongst the win for the Warragul Industries, our Hawks put on a show in the opening round with both Alisha and Matilda kicking a goal, and Elise receiving best player.

VFL: The Ringwood Seniors with Jett Latchford in Eastern Football Netball League, finished with a 15 point win in their first round for the season. Their win came over the Templestowe Seniors, 11.3 (79) to 8.16 (64).

The Mooroolbark Seniors with Jye Peacock unfortunately came away with a tough loss on Saturday against the Park Orchard Seniors, 11.11 (77) to 25.12 (162). Despite the loss, Jye didn’t shy away from a great game as he snagged a goal and received best player.

In Round 1 of the Gippsland Football League, the Drouin Seniors with Sebastian Amoroso weren’t able to secure the win against Bairnsdale Seniors, 6.13 (49) to 9.11 (65).

Zach Felsbourg in the Maffra Seniors faced a hard loss this weekend against Sale, losing by 32 points! 12.7 (79) to 16.15 (111).

The Warragul Seniors with Lane Ward claimed a close win against the Wonthaggi Seniors, 8.9 (57) to 7.6 (48).

Round 2 for the Ovens & Murray Football League, Toby Cossor and the Myrtleford Seniors narrowly missed the win, as the Wodonga Seniors defeated them by 15 points! 7.4 (46) to 7.19 (61).

In the Coates League, Iliro Smit and Remy Maclean in the Eastern Ranges walked away with a loss. The Sandringham Dragons defeated the Ranges by 26 points, 10.7 (60) to 12.14 (86). On the up-side, our Hawks boys shined brightly as Remy booted 2 goals for the Ranges, and Iliro Smit being named best player.

As the weekends roll over, more of our VFLW and VFL Box Hill players will make an appearance in their community clubs colours! Keep an eye out on the weekly updates to see how our Hawks went in their games.
