2 Hawks Feature in A. Todd Medal
Two Box Hill Hawk players were recognised for their great seasons last night at the J.J Liston Medal Night. Key midfielders Billy Murphy & Sam Switkowski were both standouts in the development teams 13-3 year, and were recognised amongst their peers.
In the A. Todd Medal vote count, to recognise the Best and Fairest player in the Development league, Box Hill’s Billy Murphy finished 1 vote shy of the winner in 2nd place. After playing only 11 games and kicking 14 goals, Billy polled an impressive 15 votes to finish in 2nd place behind Casey’s Oscar McInerney. Billy also managed 3 senior VFL games throughout 2016 and looms as a player to watch in this weekend’s Development League Grand Final.
Sam Switkowski also had a tremendous home and away season for the Box Hill Hawks. After playing 8 development league games, Sam was seen in the best players on 7 occasions. This was consistent throughout the umpires votes as Sam finished in equal 7th place on 9 votes. Sam was also a key figure in the senior side throughout 2016 managing 10 appearances and being named in the best players 6 times.
Congratulations to both players on their individual honours. They have played a big part in the team’s success throughout the home and away season.
Make sure you’re out at North Port Oval this coming Sunday to watch the boys in action, as they chase Premiership glory against the Casey Scorpions. First bounce at 11:30 am.
