Who: Port Melbourne

Where: ETU Stadium

When: Friday 21 April at 7pm

At A Glance

The Hawks recorded a convincing 88-point victory over Port Melbourne last time these two teams played in May last year.

Kristy Stratton was named as the Hawks’ best in that clash and she’ll be hoping to repeat those efforts under Friday night lights, as she lines up for her first game of the season.

The Borough are a much-improved side though and have gone 3-1 for the season so far, sitting fourth on the VFLW ladder.

The Hawks dropped from first to sixth after their Round 4 defeat but will be hoping to climb back up the ladder at ETU Stadium.

The Who

Box Hill will blood two more club debutants on Friday night, with Hawthorn defensive pair Louise Stephenson and Laura Elliott set to suit up in the brown and gold.

Stephenson last played VFLW for Melbourne Uni before joining GWS in 2017 while Elliott plays her first-ever VFLW game.

The Hawks also welcome back AFLW draftee Kristy Stratton for her first game of the season while captain Nicole Garner returns from injury.

Port Melbourne has been hit hard by injury in the lead-up to the Round 5 clash, with big-name recruits Eliza Morrison, Chanelle Slater and Jemima Woods all among the outs.

Reigning Rohenna Young medallist Federica Frew comes in as does Richmond AFLW forward/ ruck Amelia Peck.

Ones To Watch

Box Hill defender Matilda Van Berkel has burst onto the scene in the VFLW competition.

The Warragul Industrials product is averaging 14.5 disposals and three marks from her two appearances.

Described by coach Cherie O’Neill as an “attacking defender”, expect her to rebound excellently off half-back on the big stage.

On the Borough side of things, Lauren Caruso has been putting together a good season so far.

After coming across from Essendon, the former Calder Cannons captain has been averaging 15.3 disposals and 9.5 tackles from four games and can play a variety of roles on the field.
