Summary: Box Hill is excited to announce Damian Mascitti has re-committed to the club ahead of the 2020 season.

Mascitti joined the Hawks at the start of the 2019 season after seven years with league rival Port Melbourne, with whom he won a premiership in 2017.

A versatile player with strong running power, the 27-year-old proved a vital piece of the Hawks’ make-up this year with his league experience coming to the fore.

GM- VFL and VFLW Football Daniel Napoli said the club was excited to extend Mascitti’s stay at City Oval.

“Damien made an immediate impact in his first year with the club,” Napoli said.

“Not only did he impress on-field, but he also showed great leadership, seamlessly stepping into the vice captaincy role.

“We have put an emphasis on building an experienced core of players ahead of season 2020, so re-signing Damien was an important step for us.

“We’re really excited to see what he can do in his second year at the club.”

Mascitti played 18 games in his debut season for the Hawks, featuring amongst the best players on six occasions.

His best game for the year came in Round 2 when he took on his former side and was best afield despite the Hawks losing by four goals.
