Selection: Hawks Ready For Saturday Night Fever

The Box Hill Hawks will seek to turn a four-and-zero start into a perfect five-from-five under lights on Saturday night, and have made two changes to the 23 which defeated Port Melbourne last Sunday.

The side which is set to take on the Tigers at Frankston’s Kinetic Stadium boasts a strong mix of AFL-listed youth and experience, which is complemented by a compelling cohort of VFL-listed talent.

Having impressed throughout pre-season Gippsland Power product Max Donohue has been named to make his VFL debut. Out of Leongatha originally, Donohue is tied to Mitcham in the EFNL and has made a strong start to his 2025 season at local level.

The winger is joined in the Hawks’ match-day squad by talented small forward-midfield hybrid Jake Arundell, who was squeezed out of the side on balance a week ago but returns to offer Zane Littlejohn class and creativity in the front half.

Both Finn Maginness and Changkuoth Jiath have been rewarded for standout showings against Port Melbourne with senior re-calls.

All told the squad is comprised of 14 AFL-listed Hawks, including the experienced Sam Frost and developing forward Calsher Dear; having played a little under three quarters last weekend, the latter will seek to increase his minutes in Frankston as he builds fitness ahead of an AFL return.

Jasper Scaife and Ethan Stanley will be out to consolidate career best showings at the level. Scaife’s six-goal performance in the round five win over Port Melbourne was a highlight, while Ethan Stanley’s 28 disposals and a goal were equally as instrumental in securing the four points

James Blanck and Sam Butler are two more listed Hawks who’ll look to build on a promising fortnight since returning from long injury layoffs. The pair have incrementally built their loads in the wins over Geelong and Port and look primed for the trip to Frankston.

Any changes to the selected 23 will be communicated prior to Saturday night’s first bounce.
