VFL Round 3 Team: Four Ins For Suns Showdown

The Box Hill Hawks have recalled a human highlight reel, handed a running machine a brown and gold debut and afforded a smooth mover out of Gippsland his first taste of state league footy, among four changes to the side which defeated Geelong a fortnight ago.

Into the Club’s 23-man squad for Saturday’s trip to tackle the Gold Coast comes Jaylon Thorpe, who returns to the mix following a brief illness late in pre-season, former GWS top-up player Andrew Mathieson and Lane Ward, a classy ball user with plenty of raw ability.

Harry Morrison, who starred in the Club’s opening round win out at Casey, is the fourth and final addition to a side aiming to snap a run of three consecutive losses to the Suns, and will add poise and experience to a Hawks outfit hoping to turn a good start to 2024 into a great one.

Out of the team which saw off the Cats come four-goal hero Sam Butler, midfielder Finn Maginness, dashing half-back Seamus Mitchell and key back Ethan Phillips, who misses having picked up a knock in between matches.

Any changes to our selected side will be communicated prior to Saturday’s first bounce, which is scheduled for 2:30pm.

As for some housekeeping, Captain Cal Porter will play his 50th match for Box Hill, while Ed Phillips will play his 51st (sorry, Ed!).\
