Fresh off the bye and eyeing a strong finish to the home and away season, the Box Hill Hawks have made seven changes to the side which defeated Sandringham a fortnight ago, though with Hawthorn not playing until Sunday we should expect some action among the emergencies to create one or two more.
Into the squad for Saturday’s hit-out with the in-form Bulldogs come live-wire forwards Tyler Brockman and Jaylon Thorpe, the latter having missed the wins in rounds 18 and 19 through injury, with midfielders Lachy Bramble, Henry Hustwaite and Cam Mackenzie joining them among the inclusions – though the latter has been named as Hawthorn’s sub.
Big man Lloyd Meek shapes as an important in, while debutant Lachie Bryce is unquestionably the good news story this weekend.
Rangy and athletic, Bryce joined the Hawks following a successful train-on period during the pre-season and has worked hard all year to earn his crack at senior VFL football.
Should there be further changes come match day, Zane Littlejohn has an array of exciting and developing talent to draw from.
Max Hall, who has enjoyed a breakout season across half-forward, would be champing at the bit to play, as would small forward Jake Arundell, who booted three goals a fortnight ago in what was his first match of 2023.
Big-bodied utilities Tristen Waack and Kye Agosta will be ready to go if needed, as will clever small Cody Bramble.
The Hawks’ final team will be confirmed prior to Saturday’s first bounce, which is scheduled for 2:05pm.
