VFL: Round 19 Teams

Will Hams is in line to make his first appearance for the Box Hill Hawks in 85 days, having overcome a torrid time in the treatment room.

Hams’ inclusion is a massive boost for the side ahead of a finals campaign, adding an extra bit of steel and polish to a Box Hill outfit looking to go deep into September.

Hams is joined in a long list of inclusions by ruckman Marc Pittonet, recalled after missing last week’s loss to Port Melbourne, as well as a number of promising young Development League talent.

Pleasingly, Jono O’Rourke pulled up well from his first hit out since May and will hopefully enjoy greater exposure and playing time in his second start as he looks to end the season on a positive note.

Liam Cox could potentially add to his six senior appearances for the season, whilst Aaron Bond could figure for the first time since round thirteen’s trip to North Ballarat.

In the absence of the suspended Ty Vickery different and varied avenues to goal must be explored.

In light of that, Connor Nash will continue his development – but with an altogether different perspective of the field. The Irishman has played nearly exclusively across the full and half back lines in 2017, but is named at full forward for Sunday’s visit of the Northern Blues.

Having defeated the ladder-leading Port Melbourne and sewn up a finals berth last week, Andrew Shakespeare’s squad will look to hit September in the best way: off a solid block of impressive and consistent footy.

There’s plenty to play for across all levels of the club, with both sides in finals action and spots well and truly up for grabs.
