Selection: Battle of the Birds

The seven-and-one Hawks have made seven changes to the side ahead of Saturday afternoon’s visit of the seventh placed Magpies.

Sorry about that – it’s a nice coincidence there are so many sevens at play.

Into the side comes big man Ned Reeves, defender Noah Mraz, swingman Will McCabe, on-baller Cam Mackenzie, Box Hill skipper Cal Porter, wingman Ethan Stanley and small forward Seb Amoroso.

Mraz and Stanley are cleared to play following time in conclusion protocols, while Porter is a welcome addition having been managed last weekend.

Among the seven omissions are the managed trio of Cody Anderson, Sam Durdin and Lane Ward, with the unlucky quartet to miss out on balance comprised of Nathan Philactides, Max Donohue, Jack Sammartino and Jye Peacock.

Jai Serong will take his place for the 50th time in the brown and gold of Box Hill, too. The versatile tall and 2024 Col Austen Trophy winner made his debut in round 1, 2022 against the Magpies and has become a sensational contributor at the VFL level ever since.

With Hawthorn and Collingwood set to do battle on Friday night, Box Hill encourages all Hawks fans to make their way to City Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Any changes to the selected 23 will be communicated prior to the first bounce – which is scheduled for 2:05pm.
