Tweedie Joins Hawks

The Box Hill Hawks are thrilled to announce the signing of promising new recruit, Tristan Tweedie, for the 2018 VFL season.

Picked up by the Western Bulldogs as a Category B Rookie via the Next Generation Academy in 2016, Tweedie enjoyed a stint on their AFL list – and after a taste, the dynamic forward continues to be motivated by the prospect of having a second bite at an AFL career.

“It’s a really exciting opportunity, and after meeting with Box Hill, I knew it was a really good fit.”

“It’s a pretty young group and we all seem to have the same ideas going forward.”

Whilst only nineteen years of age himself, Tweedie is well versed in what it takes to compete at VFL level, notching eleven games with Footscray last year.

The 190cm talent, of Eastern Ranges ranks, has been praised for his versatility and game sense; paired with the ability to gather clean ground level ball and execute in front of goal.

Welcomed by teammates, preseason thus far has been predominantly smooth sailing. A minor ankle tweak aside, Tweedie has hit the ground running and is doing all he can to catch the eyes of senior coaches – determined to ensure he starts 2018 amongst the best twenty-two.

Although driven by the tenacity to reach the pinnacle of the sport once again, Tweedie is equally hungry for success as a team, and is eager to play his part to achieve it.

For him, it’s simple.

“I just want to be back playing good footy, both personally and as a group.”

Tweedie makes a welcome addition to an array of signings, of faces both old and new, which have bolstered the Box Hill list leading in to the pointy end of preseason, building toward an exciting kick off to 2018.
