Tobin’s Ton
Liam Tobin will pull on the Box Hill guernsey for the hundredth time this Saturday when the Hawks face the Northern Blues.
He first wore the Hawks’ jumper in 2010 after playing junior football with Noble Park, and in the TAC Cup with the Sandringham Dragons.
Playing as a defender for much of his junior career, Tobin was thrown forward for Box Hill in season 2013 and kicked over 20 goals.
“I was given a role as a defensive forward that season and have enjoyed it ever since,” he said.
Tobin became a pivotal member of the 2013 premiership side, and treasures that particular match more than any other.
“Winning 2013’s grand final is without a doubt my most memorable game,” he said.
When asked what he values most at the Box Hill Hawks, he was quick to praise the club’s atmosphere, as well as the people within it.
“The club’s got a really good culture – it values respect on and off the field, as well as good friendships, because that’s what it comes down to,” he said.
Liam Tobin’s VFL Career
Tobin kicked 22 goals in Box Hill’s 2013 premiership season, and was named TIB (Time in Best) 7 times
The high school P.E. teacher has had an injury-riddled season, suffering two separate hamstring injuries that have kept him from playing his milestone match.
Tobin will be hoping to string the last two home and away games together injury free, build his match fitness, and hopefully have an impact throughout September.
Make sure to get to Preston City Oval this weekend to help Liam Tobin in celebrating his hundredth game.
