Box Hill will again field a strong Hawthorn contingent, with 20 senior Hawks named in the provisional 27-man squad.

Sunday’s visit of Essendon shapes as a potentially season defining showdown for Chris Newman’s fifth-placed Hawks and the fourth-placed Bombers, lead by Dan Jordan, and a win will go a long way towards securing the coveted double chance.

It’s the only place in town to see the Hawks this weekend and with the Ladies leading things off at 11:30 fans have plenty of reason to journey out to City Oval.

Both sides come into the contest at six-and-three on the season and fresh off impressive wins last start; and with the September picture coming quickly into focus are both in the top four mix.

Kaiden Brand is the only AFL-listed Hawk named to return, having won a late call-up for Hawthorn’s clash with Adelaide last Saturday night.

Will Hams is in contention to feature following a week off, whilst Anthony Brolic could also figure after impressing for South Croydon last weekend.

Big man Michael Knoll has been named for the first time in 2018 off a string of solid performances at Vermont, whilst Tristan Tweedie is in the mix to make his Box Hill debut.

Mackenzie Doreian has retained his place as 23rd man on the back of a good showing on debut and will look to build on a promising start in Brown in Gold.
