Round Six Selection

Chris Newman’s unbeaten Hawks travel to Casey Fields this Sunday in what shapes as their sternest test of the season to date.

Box Hill top the competition ladder through five rounds, boasting the best attack and second best defence in the league, and the squad responsible for that record has been bolstered with the addition of five AFL-listed Hawks and debutant Nathan Boucher, who has been named 23rd man.

Kieren Lovell, a standout throughout pre-season, is joined by the returning Oliver Hanrahan and first-year players Jackson Ross and Harrison Jones, who’ll feature for the first time since round one and three, respectively.

Boucher, also in his first year of senior football, has won his spot in the squad on the back of a best afield display in last weekend’s Young Guns match between Metro and Country representative sides.

Skipper Andrew Moore will be out to build on his strong return to the side last weekend, having missed the first three weeks of the new campaign through suspension. Moore finished the game with 34 disposals, 10 clearances and a goal. His work inside the stoppage will be crucial in toppling the contested ball focused Dees.

The Demons are coming off a bye last weekend and sit eighth on the VFL ladder with two wins and two losses to date, but despite their two-and-two status claim a formidable home record and good recent form against the Hawks.
