Community Clubs (June 15)

Given the long weekend, there weren’t as many of our younger development players able to
play in local leagues. But the few that did were impressive across the state, from local
leagues to representing the state.

Flynn Lakey represented Gisborne in the Bendigo Football Netball League Seniors
Competition. Lakey and the Bulldogs took a 63-point win over Eaglehawk, 14.16 (100) to 5.7
(37). He managed a goal and was named fifth best on ground.

In the Ballarat Football Netball League, Jayden Eales and Sunbury competed hard all day.
They went down 15.8 (98) to 6.11 (47), but Eales managed one of their six goals for the
afternoon on Saturday.

Cayden Maki and the undefeated Mooroolbark Mustangs took another big win over the
weekend, defeating Montrose 18.13 (121) to 6.7 (43). Maki had a very impressive day on
the park, dominating his regular wing position but also drifted forward throughout the
afternoon, slotting two goals. He also earnt himself fourth best afield in his side’s victory.

Will Sexton took to the field with Yarrawonga in the Ovens and Murray League. It was a
decent win over Wodonga for the Pigeons, finishing ahead by 64 points, 17.11 (113) to 7.7

In the Murray Football League, Will Garner played with Numurkah who were bested by
Congupna. Garner managed a goal in their loss, in the end it was 14.11 (95) to 6.3 (39).

Jed Rule played with VIC Metro in the second of two trial games over the long weekend, the
final matches before selection for the teams for the NAB AFL National Championships. He
played against VIC Country on Sunday, June 12 where they were victorious 100 to 64.
