Brinker-Ritchie Joins Hawks

The Box Hill Hawks have signed Gippsland product Dave Brinker-Ritchie for the remainder of the 2022 VFL season.

Tied to local club Traralgon, which counts Brinker-Ritchie’s new teammates Luis D’Angelo and Jordan Cunico among their ranks, the 201cm, 18-year-old big man in the latest in a line of players to make their way to City Oval via the Gippsland region.

In the last 18-months the Club has welcomed Gippsland Power alumni D’Angelo, Cunico, Max Walton, Mason Hawkins, Cal Porter and Jai Newcombe into the brown and gold family; with Senior Coach Clint Proctor having both played and coached with the Power.

Brinker-Ritchie joins the Club having spent the last two weeks training with the group.

“Dave is a great story and someone we’re pleased to welcome aboard,” said Box Hill’s General Manager – VFL & VFLW, Daniel Napoli.

“He’s a big boy, he’s got a great attitude and he’s shown himself to be really coachable.

“He was someone identified by our Pathway Coach Kade Pargeter, who does a mountain of outstanding work in that area tracking talent and liaising with the Gippsland Power.

“Kade knew a bit about him, having seen him come through the Power’s system, and we moved pretty quickly to set up an opportunity for him to experience our program and for us to have a look at him.

“Since linking up with us, he has worked closely with Academy Coach Keegan Brooksby. On the back of some encouraging signs we decided to bring him in so to monitor and further assist his development.”

Brinker-Ritchie is eligible for selection this week.
