Box Hill Hawks & Eastern Devils Double-Header
With the announcement of the very first Victorian Football League (VFL) Women’s season, the Box Hill Hawks are extremely delighted about hosting their double-header match in Round 20 of the upcoming season.
On Saturday 20th August, the Eastern Devils will play host to the Diamond Creek Demons in their WVFL Women’s match before the highly contested game between Box Hill and Collingwood. With the support of both VFL teams and their AFL counterparts, we should expect to see a great crowd for both games at City Oval.
As the Box Hill Hawks are the only men’s VFL team within the Eastern Region, the club is also really happy to be able to share a match day with the Eastern Devils.
Chris Nanni, General Manager of the Box Hill Hawks, spoke of the club’s anticipation of the Round 20 clash.
“It fantastic to see the competition taking shape so quickly and with so much momentum. We are excited to play host to some of Victoria’s best women footballers on this day, but equally important, assist in any way possible, be that within the coaching ranks, fitness and medical or even off field with the administration.”
“I’m sure the local community and fans from all clubs on the day will not be disappointed with the standard of football on the day”.
Jo Wotton, President of the Eastern Devils also shared her excitement about the new VFL Women’s Season and the double-header matches with the men’s teams.
“With a new era of women’s football on our doorstep, it’s an exciting time for everyone at the club.”
“As the premier side in the Eastern Suburbs, we are delighted to be able to work with the Box Hill Hawks and share the stage with them in a double-header later in the year. With some of the best footballers in the state showcasing their skills, fans both new and old are sure to be impressed.”
At such an exciting time for women’s football, Box Hill is thrilled to be getting in on the action.
