Bello Impressed with Pre-Season Camp Efforts
Head Coach Marco Bello was really impressed with the playing group’s efforts at the club’s pre-season camp in Dromana over the weekend.
“I’m really pleased with the camp…We’ve been pounding Waverley Park pretty much since late October and so to get a change of scenery…you can see their smiles even though they’re working pretty hard.”
Bello described the camp as having a broad focus, with emphasis on more than just fitness and game plan knowledge.
“It’s a mixture. It’s getting to know each other…a bit of team bonding…certainly a bit of conditioning side of things and then again we’ll go through some game plan and a little bit more footy”.
Bello said the new Box Hill recruits have engaged well with the main playing group and were particularly impressive throughout the camp.
“…the new guys who have come in have embraced the club and the culture really well and the older guys have made them feel welcome.”
” I’m really pleased to see a lot of the new guys perform really well, but also knowing the game plan and the terminology and that sort of stuff already is a pleasing sign.”
“We’ve got a great group of young kids coming through and as I said with the leadership group, I think they’ll integrate really well.”
Looking ahead post-camp, Bello said the focus would now be on implementing game plans and structures.
“It’s really getting into games now so everything that we’ve learnt we’ve got to put into games and ensure that as a playing group and a leadership group they’ve understood what’s required of them.”
“I’ve been really pleased with the group so far. I think the boys are enjoying it whilst working pretty hard.”
