August Box Hill Hawks vs Northern Blues

Development Side:

The Development are more familiar with this week’s opponents than the seniors having played the Northern Blues at Preston City Oval in Round 13. The Hawks recorded a 95 point victory that day thanks the accuracy of AFL Vic Development side leading goal kicker Peter McEvoy who slotted through 4 goals on his way to a best on ground performance.

The side who has won 8 of their past 10 games will be absolute favourites heading into the game against the young blues who have lost the past 5. Currently sitting 3rd on the ladder behind Williamstown and Port Melbourne a win on Saturday would see the side finish 2nd ahead of Port Melbourne who have a bye on percentage.

Senior Side:

After locking up a top 4 spot on Saturday with a 63 point victory over Bendigo the side will face the 11th placed Northern Blues who are coming off a 65 point loss to Port Melbourne.

It will be the first encounter between the two sides this season with the last time they faced off back in Round 14 of the 2013 season. It was the Northern Blues who got the points in that game thanks to the dominate play of Mitch Robinson defeating the hawks by 16 points in a rain soaked game at City Oval. The boys will need to come out firing against the Blues and a victory would set the side up nicely heading into finals.
