July 31: Community Clubs Wrap-Up
Another week of community football saw Box Hill personnel out to impress once more, with most finding themselves on the positive end of winning margins.
The second half of the Eastern Football League’s split round saw East Ringwood go down to Balywn by six goals, in spite of the efforts of Box Hill contingent Liam Jeffs, Reece Groves, Tristan Davies and Tristan Tweedie. Jeffs managed two goals, while Groves and Davies contributed one apiece, and were ably supported by Tweedie throughout.
Across in the Victorian Amateur Football Association, Lachlan Walker and Geordie Nagle took bragging rights over Ned Reeves when De La Salle triumphed over St. Kevin’s by a relatively comfortable 27 points. Walker impressed as the game’s leading goal kicker, booting three majors for the day.
Sam Parsons, Nathan Boucher and the Collegians returned to the winner’s list, with victory over Old Scotch; while Liam Mackie hit the scoreboard in Old Carey’s near 100-point drubbing of Ajax.
Billy Murphy was again important for Greensborough, contributing two goals to his side’s defeat of Hurstbridge; while Jesse Cucinotta and Ryan McGannon also took home the four points with their Heidelberg and Mt. Eliza sides, respectively.
