VFLW Round 13 Match Preview

Box Hill will aim to bounce back from a heartbreaking draw against Geelong when the side faces Casey at Casey Fields on Saturday afternoon. 

The match will be a clash between seventh and 10th, with a win crucial in the tight race to finals.

This is the second time these two teams have met this season, with the Hawks looking to back up their 33-point win in Round 6 at Wonthaggi.

It was a day to remember for Maddie Boyd, who pulled in 22 disposals to go with 10 marks, 10 hit-outs and a goal.

Box Hill’s resilience has been tested in recent weeks though, losing to Williamstown by three points before drawing to Geelong last week. 

It’s a similar story for the Demons who beat the Cats in Round 11 before a tight loss to Essendon in Round 12.

Ones To Watch 

Hawks VFLW stalwart Abbey Holmes comes in for her first game of the season on Saturday.

Holmes is a known goalkicker but is an option all over the ground, thanks to her leadership and composure with ball in hand. 

Grace McRae is another welcome addition for Box Hill, with the midfielder’s grit sorely missed in the team’s draw against the Cats.

Rounding out the ins is defender Bella Gray, who has had a consistent debut season with the Hawks.

On the Demons side of things, keep an eye on ruck Leah Swain.

Swain is leading the competition in hit-outs with 37.5 per game, while also averaging nine disposals and three tackles.
