The Box Hill Hawks are taking expressions of interest for a Strength and Conditioning Coach to join our VFLW program ahead of the 2023 season.
The Opportunity:
The Box Hill VFLW team is looking for a Strength and Conditioning Coach to join the high performance team. Working alongside the high performance manager, other strength and conditioning coaches, lead sport scientist, physiotherapists and interns. This role is a great opportunity for a recently graduated coach, eager to develop their skills within a multidisciplinary high performance team
About the Club:
The VFLW team begin their pre-season in December, training out of Bunjil Bagora during the pre-season before moving to Box Hill City Oval during March. Training days are Monday and Wednesday afternoon with games to be confirmed but either Saturday or Sunday. Expectations for the role are to attend all Wednesday training sessions along with gamedays.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Report to and work closely with the HPM and other high performance staff
- Assist in the design and implementation of strength and power programs using TeamBuildr software
- Assist in the design and implementation of speed, agility, and conditioning sessions
- Assist in the implementation of rehabilitation programs as directed by medical team
- Coaching and overseeing gym sessions, providing feedback and technique correction along with safe lifting techniques
- Assist in any performance testing and data collection with potential assistance with GPS data collection
- Provide guidance to S&C interns
- Provide further assistance when required at training and game days
About You:
- Completed Bachelor’s of Exercise and Sport Science or equivalent
- Completed or intention of completion of ESSA or ASCA Level 1 Accreditation
- Working with Children Check
- Experience S&C coaching, including program prescription in team sport, football is desirable
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Available for required training and game days
