Two Hawks to feature in prestigious academy

Two Box Hill Hawks have been selected to join the Peter Jackson VFL Academy for the 2015 season.

First-year players Chris Jones and Sam Switkowski were two of 29 players selected for the exclusive academy that aims to further develop young stars.

The pair made it through a competitive selection process, seeing off 151 other applications from the AFL, VFL and TAC Cup.

For Switkowski, a 178-centimetre utility recruited from the Northern Knights, the academy provides the opportunity to reignite his AFL dream after missing out in last year’s draft.

“I feel pretty privileged to be apart of it,” Switkowski said.

“Especially to be recognised after not getting picked up in the draft last year is really positive.

“Hopefully I’ll be use the extra resources, coaches and staff and really put myself out there.”

Switkowski will wear the 48 guernsey in 2015 while Jones will be 49.
