Box Hill take on Collingwood for the first time since the last game of the 2021 season, in Round 16. With a ten goal to none final quarter, it was Box Hill who were victorious with a 63-point win at Olympic Park Oval.

Preseason form: W, L, L, W

The Hawks bookended a four match pre-season program with wins over North Melbourne and Frankston, falling just short against Richmond and Frankston; yes, we played the Dolphins twice!

But we have navigated the 2022 pre-season well under new Senior Coach Clint Proctor.

The Brown and Gold will arrive at round one with minutes into key players and a well-rounded confidence in the side ahead of the season.

There were games with our experienced players on show, while others it was the youngsters getting it done and others a combination of the two, but across the board the squad is prepped and ready to get underway.

 Team News

Hugh Beasley is an obvious one to look out for, at the dawn of his first official game and season as Captain of Box Hill. Overcoming a slight niggle, he featured in our last two practice matches and lead well both on and off the field. Get ready, we’re in for a big season under ‘Beaser.’

If Jaylon Thorpe’s showing in our practice match against Richmond with a five-goal haul is anything to go by, he’s a star in the making and is sure to be impressive throughout the season. The off-season acquisition has settled in nicely at Box Hill, and will look to consolidate his early season form, which will make for good viewing for Box Hill fans.

Ben Cavarra is another off-season signing who is already doing exciting things in the brown and gold. The electric small-forward has been raring to get on the field and when he did, boy did he impress. First lining up against Frankston playing some time in the middle and up forward, while against North he slotted two majors and is sure to keep making an impact.

Brady Grey also joined the club in the off-season, adding further talent to our list. His most recent display of football was exciting to say the least, bagging four goals in our practice match against North Melbourne, showing he’s a good man to have up forward. His season looks promising, you won’t want to miss it.
