Peter Schwab Returns
The Box Hill Hawks are delighted to announce Peter Schwab as the Club’s Director of Coaching for 2022.
A three-time Hawthorn premiership player, Schwab returns to the Brown and Gold with a wealth of valuable and varied experience at all levels of the game.
The former Hawthorn Senior Coach, who has also held Director of Umpiring & Director of Coaching roles at the AFL, will channel four decades worth of exposure to playing, coaching, administration and teaching towards mentoring coaches and staff across the men’s and women’s programs at Box Hill.
“We’re always exploring ways to improve our on and off-field operations,” said Daniel Napoli, Box Hill’s GM – VFL and VFLW.
“At Box Hill we recognise and embrace our place as a development platform. That is underpinned by a commitment to provide our staff with as many resources as possible to both support and fast-track their growth.
“A significant part of that is identifying quality people who can come into our environment and offer their unique skill sets, experience and know how to make us and our people better.
“In Peter we’ve an outstanding addition to an exciting team; and someone who is champing at the bit to pay forward his considerable experience.”
Schwab, who previously served as CEO of AFL Victoria and is currently Coaching Coordinator at Wesley College, will work closely with the coaching groups of the Club’s VFL and VFLW sides, providing support, guidance and feedback throughout the season.
“We had great success last season with Andy Collins acting as a senior, experienced figure for Sam Mitchell to bounce off,” Napoli added.
“While this is a hybrid or evolved role for Peter, the opportunity to provide Clint Proctor, Cherie O’Neill and their teams that kind and quality of support was a no-brainer.
“If you look at his resume there are few major roles he hasn’t performed. That breadth of experience will hold him and us in great stead next year and we’re thrilled to have him on board in such an important position.”
Peter Schwab will officially join up with the Box Hill Hawks in the new year.
