Pathways
Eastern Ranges
Beginning in 1996, Box Hill Hawks proudly represent their alignment with TAC Cup Under-18’s Eastern Ranges Football Team. The alignment allows players from Eastern Ranges to play home games at Box Hill City Oval and have the advantage to proceed through the Box Hill Hawks and Hawthorn FC system.
The success of the system can be shown through successful athletes progressing from the Eastern Ranges, to VFL and further into AFL, such as Sam Mitchell and Michael Firrito. Box Hill Academy Coach Jason Philactides has been busy with the Eastern Ranges Pathways program over the last few weeks. Numerous Eastern Ranges boys were invited to train with Box Hill pre-Christmas. Those boys played in our final intra club session pre-Christmas. Sahaf Ali, Tyler Beloni, Zac Cileceken and Mitch Sruk have continued their pre-season training with us. All boys have impressed the coaching staff with their work ethic and footy skills.
We are proud of one of our very own Box Hill Hawks players, Ben Cavarra who is the head coach of Eastern Ranges U16 boys team. Ben is a former Ranges Captain and one of the most decorated players in the club’s 30 year history, where he was the Pennington Medalist in 2012 and 2013, as well as the Eastern Ranges Premiership Captain in 2013. We are excited to see the impact Ben has on the next generation of athletes!
Gippsland Power
Our club has recently engaged in a pathway program through Gippsland Power. Luis D’Angelo and Mason Hawkins have been added to the Box Hill list for season 2022. Both of those boys were part of the Pathways program in season 2021. Box Hill Academy Coach Kade Pargeter has been in regular contact with Gippsland Power Coach Rhett McLennan, and we currently have Max Walton training with us. Max makes the drive from Phillip Island for each session and has been very committed to the program.
