Grand Final Information

A rollercoaster of a season is set to come to the grandest of climaxes this coming Sunday afternoon, as Box Hill face Casey to determine the destiny of the 2018 VFL ‘Love The Game’ premiership.

Box Hill won their way into the decider by virtue of Sunday’s scintillating one-point Preliminary Final victory against Williamstown, with the two sides contesting what time will surely come to regard as one of the finest finals in VFL history.

Casey’s qualification came via triumph in wet and wild conditions against Essendon on Saturday, the Demons surviving the threat of weather and a willing Essendon to book their place.

The sides met as recently as Round 20 of this season, where it was the Hawks who put an end to Casey’s twelve match unbeaten run with a comfortable 45-point victory.

In Round 6 it was the Demons who proved too strong for the Brown and Gold, better handling tricky conditions at Casey Fields to run out 39-point winners.

In terms of finals, Box Hill will contest their first showpiece final since 2015 and will be out to add a third premiership cup to those won in 2001 and 2013.

It’s been a period of great success for the Hawks, who between 2013 and 2018 have contested five finals series, qualifying for four grand finals along the way and have failed to reach the last four on just one occasion.

For the Demons the match marks their second Grand Final appearance in three seasons, having played against and lost to Footscray in 2016’s decider. The Club’s last premiership success came in 1999.

Fans planning to attend are encouraged to make a day of it, as the Hawthorn women contest their first Grand Final in a 12:30pm curtain raiser, with gates opening at 12pm.

Those unable to make the match will be able to follow all the action live on Channel 7 from 3pm or via their plus7 streaming service online. Additionally, radio coverage will be provided by 3WBC 94.1 FM and SEN on the day.

You can also keep track of all the goings on via Box Hill’s official social media channels, with accounts of the game available on Twitter and Instagram

Tickets for the clash can be purchased at the gate on the day or via this link, with prices set at $23 for adults $16 for valid concession holders, with children under the age of 15 admitted free of charge.
